Presenter Tips

To be a radio presenter you have to be comfortable talking to someone you can’t see – always imagine you are talking to one listener.
This is some thing not ever one is happy doing.
Speak clearly and find your own voice by taping and listening to your self, you need to be larger than life and it also helps on local radio if you are a local person.

Always read off air any thing that you will be reading on air and rout out any strange pronunciations or uncommon words other wise you will be uncomfortable and struggling to say a word you do not know how to pronounce, and always say peoples names correctly.

Ask you guests before hand if you are any way unsure.

How to submit a demo to a radio station.

Try not to copy other radio presenters. Be your self and try to be different from the rest as this will be a bonus when programme controllers are on the look out for new radio talent.
Oh yes programme controllers are generally responsible for recruiting new radio presenters. They tend to advertise in media publications, or on the radio station web site.
However, you can still write in so when the time is right, send in a demo of what you are capable of doing.

Edit your demo to some good links and start off with the best one.
Remember programme controllers are busy people and you have about 30 seconds to make an impression.
Include a phone in or an interview, the weather or travel bulletins are good, as well!

Throw in a good photo of your self together with an up to date CV and any other relevant info into a portfolio.
Programme Controllers don’t care what music you play they just want to hear your personality. Make sure that your spelling and grammar are correct.
Keep it short and sweet and good luck.

Community Radio Wales FM is dedicated to providing its listeners the very best local radio.
It is sometimes necessary to 'automate' programmes, so that our team can concentrate on producing local content.

On the average weekday we provide live and local presenter led programming from 6am until 10pm.
We have a policy that all On-Air programmes should be presented live.
Pre-recorded radio is of little value to the listeners, and with this in mind we try only to automate in off peak hours, such as overnight and during especially pre-record programmes that require pre-transmission production.

On Saturdays we are live and local from 7am until 1am.

On Sundays we are live and local from 7am - 11pm, with the 4pm to 7pm being presented live from a venue in the form of the Big Chart Show.
This is an on-line networked programme.
